Dynamics GP User Price to Increase July 1, 2014

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

The old licensing models were:

BRL – Business Ready Licensing (introduced in July 2006 with the Business Essentials and Advanced Management editions where every user has access to all the modules in that edition) MBL – Module Based Licensing (prior to 2006 companies purchased specific modules they needed at a more granular level)

Many existing Dynamics GP customers are still using systems with the old BRL or MBL licensing models and price lists. But in order to encourage you to transition up to the Perpetual Licensing model, Microsoft has announced some changes.

1)      A Price Increase for MBL and BRL Additional Users Goes Into Effect July 1, 2014Current User PriceNew User Price (as of 7/1/2014)BRL Business Essentials$2250$2600BRL Advanced Management$2985-$3980 tieredNo changeMBL Professional$1850-$2100 tiered$2600 (elimination of all price tiers)MBL Standard$750No changeMBL User Based Pricingn/a$2600

Note: This price increase does not impact the Protected List Price of users licensed by existing customers prior to 1 July 2014, subject to the then applicable Customer Services and Support Policy.

2)      All New Systems Sold After July 1, 2014 Will Be On Perpetual Licensing After Perpetual Licensing was announced Microsoft still allowed customers to buy older versions under the old licensing models if that made more financial sense for them. (Although we never say anyone do this). But that is coming to an end.  Starting July 1, 2014, new customers will only be able to license Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 (or newer).

What does this mean for you?

If you think that you will need more users in the next 6 to 12 months, there is no better time to buy those users before the prices go up on 1 July 2014.

Now is a great time to look at Perpetual Licensing – a new simplified licensing model with one edition, one functionality pack, and two user types.
