One question that our clients regularly ask is ‘Can I deploy GP in the Cloud?’. The answer is YES. While GP is still a solution that needs to be deployed on a server, it is one that can certainly be deployed on a Cloud server. As a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), Rimrock provides its clients with the ability to deploy GP in Azure, Microsoft’s Cloud offering, which promises 99.95% up time meaning that your GP environment will always be available and supported by both Rimrock and Microsoft.
The most obvious benefit of bringing GP into the Cloud is the reduction in risk associated with managing on-premises infrastructure related to GP, resulting in significant cost savings over time. In terms of user experience, your team will be able to access GP in the same way and with the same user experience whether working in the office or remotely.
For existing GP clients, deploying GP in the Cloud is also a great opportunity to complete a GP upgrade at the same time. We suggest this as there is downtime associated with both the migration and upgrade exercises, so it makes sense to have a single period of downtime with the end result being the latest version of GP deployed in Azure. As mentioned before, GP 2018 has a significant number of great features that we encourage our clients to take advantage of.
So what’s the next step? Every client’s GP requirements are different so the next step would be to contact us so that we can come up with a plan that will work for you. Moving to the Cloud can certainly be a challenging exercise, but it’s one that our Dynamics GP consulting team is very comfortable with and can help you through every step of the way.
