The Rimrock team is made up of many hard working talented individuals with interesting stories to tell. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll meet some of these people, learn what they do, and how they keep Rimrock exciting and fun.
This week we shine the spotlight on Tamara Hobbs, a Senior Dynamics GP Application Specialist at Rimrock.
Tamara grew up in Montreal, Quebec but currently resides in Toronto. Her father is from Finland and her mother’s parents were Hungarian. Prior to working at Rimrock Tamara worked in accounting at a company that was implementing Dynamics GP. Following that implementation, she went to work for the company that did the implementation. That is how she got into consulting in the Dynamics world.
When Tamara isn’t busy being awesome at implementing Microsoft Dynamics GP, she can be found running, baking, and curling up to read a good book.
Read on to find out more about Tamara.
What do you love most about working at Rimrock & how long have you been here?
Consulting is being able to help people in a business environment; I love helping people. I love working with every client because they are always so different, so there is always something new to learn. I have been with Rimrock since November 2004, nearly 13 years.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? What is the number one challenge you face in your role?
It is fun to work through the question ‘how are we going to do……?’ That said, it is challenging when the answer to ‘how are we going to do it’ is not easily accomplished.
Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
I loved being in Italy because of the food, the people, the relaxed way they lived.
What book(s) are you currently reading?
I am reading Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen. Next up will be Option B – Sheryl Sandberg.
You have 2 beautiful daughters – How has it been balancing work life and mommy responsibilities?
Rimrock has always provided a wonderful work/life balance which makes it easier. Even with a well-planned schedule, each day is a little different. Daily, I assess how to meet the needs of my girls and meet the needs of my work.
Words to live by — What are yours?
Time is incredibly precious. I read ‘the days are long, but the years are short’. I strive for good days.
